OMESAC Student Group of the Year Award
OMESAC STUDENT GROUP OF THE YEAR AWARD
Award Description:
To honor the contributions of OMESAC-affiliated organizations, OACES has created the OMESAC Student Group of the Year Award.
This annual award honors one student organization that has demonstrated sustained impact, meaningful engagement, and a strong commitment to community over the course of the academic year.
The selected organization will receive:
- Featured recognition across OACES communications, including the website and newsletters
- Permanent recognition on a commemorative plaque displayed in the OACES office
- A $3,000 award to advance the organization’s future programming and initiatives
Criteria to Apply
- The student organization must be an active participatory member of OMESAC having attended at least 3 OMESAC meetings per semester.
- Organizations that have received the award in a previous academic year must describe how prior award funding was used.
Application Process
To apply, a representative of the organization must complete the application form and upload an Organizational Statement along with a summary of their work and programming over the past year, and a brief statement describing how the award funds would support their continued impact.
In their statement, organizations should address the following:
- Community Support & Engagement
Describe how your organization supported its members and/or the broader student community academically, socially, or professionally during the academic year. (Include dates and brief descriptions/media of key events.) - Campus & Community Impact
In what ways did your organization engage with the MIT community and/or surrounding communities? (Include dates and examples.) - Organizational Growth & Contributions
What positive internal developments, improvements, or innovations occurred within your organization this year? How has your organization contributed to the MIT community? - Participation & Partnership
How has your organization engaged with OMESAC meetings, OACES initiatives, or collaborative opportunities throughout the year? - OACES Mission Alignment
How has your organization helped advance the mission of OACES and promote its programs and events?
Organizations that have previously received the OMESAC Student Group of the Year Award must also submit a brief description outlining how prior award funding supported the organization’s work and impact.
Applications missing any of the above will not be considered.
