Alliance for Student Communities for Engagement, Networking, and Development (ASCEND)

In promoting the goal to facilitate student excellence at MIT and beyond, OACES strives to develop leaders who will assume greater participation and influence among peers who take part in minority-student groups, in living groups, and with campus-wide responsibilities.

ASCEND is comprised of student leaders from several MIT cultural and professional student groups. Each month, during the academic year, the OACES staff meets with the council to develop an ongoing dialogue about current and future OACES programs and services. ASCEND members also help the OACES keep abreast of student needs as well as any other relevant issues within the larger MIT community.
