We invite all members of Laureates & Leaders to a faculty research talk featuring Barbara Imperiali, PhD ('83). Dr. Imperiali is a Professor of Chemistry and Biology at MIT, with research interests centered on topics that intersect at both fields. She will take this session to discuss her journey through academia and answer questions you may have about her research and the process of getting to and through graduate school.
About Dr. Imperiali:
Originally from England, Dr. Imperiali obtained her BS.c in Medical Chemistry from the University College London. Her studies brought her to MIT as she pursued a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry. Following the completion of her program, she began her career by spending time as a postdoc at MIT and Brandeis, respectively. She then transitioned into a role at Carnegie Mellon as Assistant Professor of Chemistry. After working as an Assistant Professor (and later full Professor) at the California Institute of Technology (CalTech), she returned to MIT as a Professor of Chemistry under a named professorship.
