Mohamed Abdelmeguid
Mohamed Abdelmeguid embodies the spirit of innovation and global service, consistently leveraging MIT’s ecosystem to build ventures that create tangible social impact. Mohamed’s leadership in developing the Lothgha App, a platform for speech disorder therapy, has already impacted 75,000 users. This venture's success was recognized on major stages, and it got featured in the news as one of six international Hult Prize finalists. It earned over $20,000 through several awards. Mohamed also presented the startup at MIT 100K Accelerate, earning finalist recognition. Within the Institute, Mohamed is a strong figure in the entrepreneurial community. During the StartMIT program, Mohamed was recognized not just for his ideas but for his unique ability to connect peers and create a welcoming environment for others. He has earned $2,500 in funding from the MIT Sandbox program to pursue two distinct projects in the intersection of accessibility and serving low-resource communities. His current ventures continue this mission. As co-founder of MyCompass, he is developing an AI consulting platform for SMEs in developing regions, securing key partnerships with organizations like Aceli Africa to reach over 500 clients in East Africa. His second project, TrustTone, focuses on improving healthcare accessibility via voice assistance. This builds directly on his experience with Lothgha. He will further expand this expertise during his upcoming MISTI "Healthcare Innovation in the UAE" program, where he will visit hospitals to identify critical challenges and engineer solutions for them. Outside of his startup work, Mohamed is the treasurer of the MIT MSA and serves as an Officer in the Impact@MIT club. As part of the 3-member MIT debate team, he won the USADC Debate Championship this year and got recognized as a Top 10 speaker nationally.
